Does anyone have El Libro de Oro: El Tarot de Marsella, a book by Rodes and Sanchez? What do you think of it?
Might it be on the Jodo-Camoin deck before Rodes and Sanchez split off from the Jodo-Camoin project - rather than on the Rodes-Sanchez deck?
Thanks.

Hi Rusty,
thanks for the interesting question... that I asked directly to Daniel Rodes!
And you were right, the book (written in 2001) whereas the Rodes-Sanchez Marsella was published in 2004 btw, was indeed the first book ever about the Jodo-Camoin. It was written with the permission of Ph. Camoin of course, as all ppl involved were collaborating. Later Camoin changed his mind and retracted, the book doesn't have the approval of the Heir of the Tradition...
Daniel Rodes and Encarna Sanchez are now updating their book with specific info on their deck, thus strongly advised all interested ppl to wait for the update to be published.
I still wonder why Philippe Camoin is burning all the bridges between him and the rest of the ppl who once were involved in the renewal of the Marseilles Tarot and helped it revive (sp?). Nevermind, I am so perfectly happy with my Jodo's "La Voie du Tarot" and the Tarot de Marsella deck...

Hello all

Today, when I was arranging my tarot collection, I remembered something...
I've totally forgotten to post about a TdM pack, which should be so intriguing
to everyone here.
It is a Spanish pack --- "TAROT DE MARSELLA", a revised TdM by
Daniel Rodes & Encarna Sanchez.
They have their own website (www.tarotmarsella.com) here. (unfortunately, in Spanish only.)
This pack has only 22 trumps of a rather big size (156mm X 80mm),
with geometrical back designs.
I was given this pack some months ago as a gift by Mr Tadahiro Onuma,
who is Mr Phillip Camoin's comrade.
According to Mr Onuma, Mr Rodes & Ms Sanchez were among leading members
of Mr Camoin's circle before they made their own revised TdM.
So, naturally this pack looks so similar to Jodo-Camoin -- but there are some
interesting differences.
Take LA PAPESSE for example; You can see she has her book put on
a "bookstand", and a sphinx(?) is carved on her chair.
In other cards as well, you'll find many more original features...
It seems that they consulted various old tarot packs -- probably Noblet, Dodal,
Payen, Conver, some "Tarot de Besancon" or Swiss pack, etc.
In addition, they suggest the close relationship between Tarot and old icons.
In fact, the faces of their cards have golden grounds --- like old icons."
J'ai donc supposé une collaboration antérieure, peut-être à tort ! :_b_link__: Si c'est le cas, j'espère n'avoir heurté personne
